Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I get started with a counsellor/therapist?

A. Here at The growing room, we offer a 30-minute free introductory call to assess your needs, answer any questions  you may have and see if the growing room is the right fit for you.

Q. How can therapy help me?

A. Rogers (1959) believed that for a person to “grow”, they need an environment that provides them with genuineness (openness and self-disclosure), acceptance (being seen with unconditional positive regard), and empathy (being listened to and understood.)

Q. How long are sessions?

A. Each therapeutic hour is 50 minutes to allow time for note taking and preparation (kept inline with data protection laws.)

Q. How many sessions will I need?

A. There is no limit to the amount of sessions on offer, however, we suggest a commitment of a minimum of 6 to 8 sessions initially with a view to review and re-contract at the end of this. Group sessions require a commitment of between 6 and 8 weeks depending on the course.

Q. How much do you charge?

A. 1:1 session rates are charged between £50 and £70 per therapeutic hour and depend on the time of day and context of the session
i.e. face to face, telephone or online.

Couples sessions will last 90 minutes and will be charged between £70 and £90 per 90 minute session,
depending on time of day and context.

Group sessions are charged at £40 per session.
